Why did the boy become an astronaut ?
Because he was no earthly good !

Equatorial diameter: 12,103.7km (0.949 Earths)

Mass: 4.8685 x 1024 km (0.815 Earths)

Equatorial gravity: 8.87 m/s2 (0.904 gee)

Named after: Roman goddess of love Venus

Orbital period: 225 Earth days

Star sign:

Venus is a terrestrial planet which is sometimes called Earth's sister planet as they are similar in size and bulk composition.

Venus' rotation is somewhat unusually slow.

Venus' atmosphere is composed mostly of carbon dioxide.  There are several layers of cloud many kilometers thick composed of sulfuric acid.

There are strong (350 kmph) winds at the cloud tops but winds at the surface are very slow, no more than a few kilometers per hour.

Venus probably had large amounts of Earth but it all boiled away.  Venus is quite dry now.  Earth would have suffered the same fate if it were just a little closer to the sun.

Venus has no magnetic field, perhaps because of its slow rotation.  It also has no satellites.
