Pluto is the ninth planet in our solar system. It's largest moon Charon was discovered in 1978 and two others in 2005. Due to it's size and unusual orbit, there has been debate regarding Pluto's classification as a major or minor planet, and is recognized as a dual planet. Pluto is the only planet that has not been visited by a space craft. The image of mars on this page is the best photo from the Hubble Space Telescope. A space craft called New Horizons was launched January 2006, and should reach Pluto in 2015. Pluto's orbit is highly eccentric, and rotates in opposite directions from most other plants. Pluto's composition is unknown, but it is probably 70% rock and 30% water ice. Little is known about Pluto's atmosphere, but it is probably
primarily nitrogen, with some methane and carbon dioxide.
